Vatican spokesman Fr. Federico Lombardi puts an end to rumors that the Vatican Commission on Medjugorje will release its findings in 2012. “It will be a long time yet” says Fr. Lombardi who tells a discussion at the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith is one of more missing factors.

The Vatican is denying reports that the Vatican Commission on Medjugorje will release its findings by the end of this year.

Vatican spokesman Fr. Federico Lombardi tells National Catholic Register that the speculation is “not true” and that the commission’s findings will take longer.

Earlier this week, the French magazine La Vie said the commission, established by Pope Benedict XVI in 2010 and chaired by Cardinal Camillo Ruini, was expected to present its report to Pope before the end of 2012.

“I have spoken with Cardinal Ruini and I can assure you that it will take longer. Among other things, the commission must first give its opinion to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith to discuss, so it will be a long time yet” Fr. Lombardi tells National Catholic Register.
